The Wedding of Carnation & Denny: Polly Woodside & Showtime Events Centre

Carnation and Denny met when they were in Year Seven. From Denny’s recollection, it wasn’t quite love at first sight, but it was the sound of Carnation’s voice that caught his attention. Thirteen years on, these high school sweethearts have officially tied the knot at Polly Woodside.

Denny proposed on a European holiday in the alps outside of Munich. After a three hour hike they reached a wooden suspension bridge, looking over a pristine river and snow capped mountains – the most picturesque proposal location imaginable. Denny had prepared a huge speech but got caught up in the moment and blurted out “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH – WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

The couple got married in the summertime. The vision for their dream day was simple – ‘Hamptons’. This was complemented by a stunning outdoor ceremony at Polly Woodside and a grand reception on the wharf at Showtime Events Centre.

Carnation wore an elegant gown, the groomsmen dressed in beige suits and the bridesmaids wore white dresses. Guests were advised to wear earthy tones, meaning there was an array of beige, browns, pinks and other pastel tones among the crowd. Carnation admits it was ‘all for the gram’ and well, it sure was worth it, it was a stunning sight. Will Chao from Bright Light Weddings captured the day magnificently.

For Denny and Carnation, the day from start to finish was a highlight. Carnation was awake for the entire twenty-four hours – kickstarting the day at 3am with hair and makeup, then a tea ceremony, lunch, a photoshoot at Melbourne University and Treasury Gardens, followed by their civil ceremony and reception and just as everyone thought it was home time, a surprise party at their favourite karaoke bar.

The funniest moment of the evening was when it was time to throw the bouquet. Carnation turned around to find Denny front and centre, among all the single people, ready to catch it – move along Denny!

The happy couple honeymooned in the Whitsundays – a stunning place to relax and live up the resort life.

The advice they’d give to other couples is to “enjoy and take the day as it is, don’t let the small things that may occur get in the way”.

Congratulations, Carnation and Denny.
